RCM · Seafood steamboat dinner

Yeah yeah, Ice-breaking was today but before I go into those stuff, let me talk about yesterday first.

Went to campus around 8.30am to prepare for the Registration, City Tour and Mass Call (RCM) for the May 2008 Orientation. We had 10 minutes during the RCM to promote our Ice-breaking & Telematch scheduled for today and then I had to man the booth opened to register freshmen for our event.

It went fairly well. From the initial 80 places we raised the number to 120 so that more freshmen can participate. And response was not bad as we had to close counter before RCM ended as all places were taken up!

At 4pm after the RCM ended, we had to start setting up the stations for our games. Both Program Masters gave orders to the Station Masters on what to do before the main committee (us) sat down for an emergency meeting called by me. Since we had a 50% increase in the number of participants, we seriously needed a meeting to discuss about the alteration of certain rules and regulations as well as the scoring scheme.

After that I just went around the stations to supervise. They worked late until 10pm I think, but I left before 7pm since there wasn't anything I could do (it was none of my business anyway :P).

_butt jie picked me up from campus and YN from her house and we went to Damansara Village Steamboat Restaurant for the seafood steamboat dinner because _butt read that all bills paid during 5.30pm to 11.30pm on that day will be channelled to the victims of the Myanmar cyclone and the Sichuan earthquake. We get to eat and do charity at the same time, so why not? :D

So off we went. We ordered the set for two. It includes:

Crabs. Very fresh... so sweet. I've never eaten crabs so sweet. *bliss*

Clams - so big! Also first time see/eat. Hehe.

An assorted plate of processed food with veggies at the bottom.

Yee Mee with an egg and some other stuff.

All into the boiling pot.

Got prawns also but I forgot to snap! LOL.

We also side ordered a few other things:

Fried otak-otak tofu. Not bad!

Gam zham gu!

Veggies - nai bak.

And this is my coconut...

The three of us enjoyed the dinner very much, especially the crabs! OMG I still can't forget how sweet they tasted in my mouth. Haha. We saw a few local celebrities (whom I don't really know, haha) too. The billed totalled up to RM101.65, which was quite reasonable due to the quality and freshness of the seafood. I really hope the money will be contributed to those in need as pledged here.

Oh yeah on the way to the restaurant we passed by this Wesak Day parade with floats decorated so beautifully. And when on the way back, we met them again in SS2! Is this what they call 与佛有缘 in Chinese? LOL.

Just a miserable attempt to capture the float - the bright thing you can see in the middle of the picture. I hadn't really mastered the skill of capturing moving objects without resulting in blurred images.

Currently very sad, angered and pissed over today's event although it wasn't a total failure. Will blog about it soon.

Ice-breaking or ragging? Don't bully your juniors, ok?

If you want to capture moving objects with your camera phone (or P&S camera), you need to 'anticipate'. There is a time lag between pressing the shutter and the camera actually taking the picture.
